Miami Hurricanes get commitment from receiver who averaged 27 yards per catch last season

The Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday snagged their fourth Class of 2026 commitment in five days, receiving a pledge from a receiver who averaged an eye-popping 27 yards per catch last season.

Tyran Evans, a 6-4 senior who attends Hough High in Cornelius, North Carolina, announced he will be a part of UM’s 2026 class.

Evans visited UM’s campus two weeks ago, de-committed from the Tennessee Volunteers less than 72 hours later and then returned to UM’s campus last weekend.

Evans, who also visited Kentucky and North Carolina State, caught 36 passes for 980 yards (27 yards per catch) and 14 touchdowns last season.

On3.com slots the 6-3 Evans as the 82nd best receiver and 540th best player overall in the 2026 class. 247 Sports rates him 107th among all 2026 receivers.

Evans is the second highly-productive wide receiver and the third coveted pass-catcher to commit to UM over a three-day period. California-based Vance Spafford, rated by the 247 Sports as the No.

12 receiver in the class, flipped from Georgia to Miami on Monday, becoming the Canes’ first receiver commitment for 2026.

On Tuesday, tight end Israel Briggs -- a four-star prospect out of Visalia (California) Redwood High - picked UM over LSU. He’s rated by On3.com as the No. 7 tight end in the 2026 class.

On3.com ranks Spafford 85th and Briggs 131st among all Class of 2026 prospects.

Two Class of 2026 defensive players --- Orlando Edgewater linebacker Justin Edwards and Venice High edge rusher Asharri Charles --- committed to UM last weekend.
